Prior to joining the SJMC faculty, Henry amassed more than 20 years of experience in creative advertising and marketing prior to joining the SJMC faculty, in both agencies and in-house environments. Her clients have covered the spectrum, from a major grocery store chain, to a non-profit arts organization, to one of the world’s largest agricultural seed companies. Henry has won many awards for her work – including Addys, Tellys, NAMAs and CASE Awards – but she is most proud of the awards won by her students – including American Advertising Awards and the Broadcast Education Association International Festival of Media Arts Best of Festival Award.
Henry received her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake, and a Master of Science in Mass Communication from Miami University. Her research interests include multimedia pedagogy, advertising in athletics (especially the Super Bowl) and curriculum development.
A self-described tech geek, Henry has been an Apple Certified Trainer (Final Cut Pro) and is active with the Interactive Media and Emerging Technology division of the Broadcast Education Association, as well as the Des Moines chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
