Drake SJMC students intern at newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, advertising agencies and public relations firms and various profit and non-profit organizations. Carlyn acts as a liaison between students looking for internships and employers looking for interns.
Internships are an important component of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication academic program, supplementing what is learned in the classroom. Dozens of internship opportunities arise every month. Carlyn works with the employer, the students and the faculty to match the right student with the right internship.
Carlyn also serves as a career adviser for SJMC students. She is available to assist students with resumes and application materials, making connections with employers or searching for the “dream” job or internship. She can also assist students considering internships abroad or service learning opportunities.
You may also find Professor Crowe teaching introductory news writing courses, first year seminar, and in the public relations sequence. She also assists faculty in developing partnerships with community organizations to provide exceptional experiential learning opportunities through coursework.
