Bulldogs catch up at AAF conference

Bulldogs past and present participated in the American Ad Federation of Des Moines’ day-long conference last Friday. Pictured during the social hour are current senior ad major Haley Morris, AAF Education Chair Caleb Bailey, JO’10, and Brooke Vaske, JO’17. Bailey and Vaske were both account executives for the ad capstone in their respective years.

SJMC student creates video about new exhibit

Andrew Beall, a senior radio-TV producing major, has created a video to promote the current exhibit at the Anderson Gallery, “Mies/Weese at Drake: Where We Live and Work.” The exhibit celebrates the history of iconic Drake architecture, including Meredith Hall, and the video shows the centerpiece of the show: a 1960s-era model of Drake campus created by the office of Meredith Hall architect Mies van der Rohe:

The Anderson Gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, noon-4 p.m.; and extended hours on Thursday from noon-8 p.m. The gallery is closed on Mondays.

Other free events scheduled in conjunction with the exhibit:

  • Thursday, Nov. 16: Lecture on Weese and Associates and Eero Saarinen, architects who designed many campus buildings, by Robert Bruegmann, professor emeritus, University of Illinois at Chicago; 7 p.m., Harmon Fine Arts Center, room 336
  • Thursday, Dec. 7: Lecture on Mies van der Rohe by his grandson, architect Dirk Lohan; 7 p.m., Meredith Hall 106
