First Dialogue at Drake event this week

The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center and Drake Student Life will host the first Dialogue at Drake event on Thursday, March 30 at 7-8:30 p.m. in Olin 101. The event will dive into the issue of political polarization and how to have a respectful conversation about politics.

Current Iowa Republican Party Chair Dr. Jeff Kaufmann and former Iowa Democratic Party Chair Dr. Andy McGuire will discuss the current state of politics in Iowa as well as their friendship despite their natural opposition, followed by a quick question and answer period. Jerry Parker, Dean of Students, will speak to the state of polarization on campus. Scott Raecker, the Director of The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center, will do a presentation on how to have a civil conversation, and there will be a short, small-group discussion afterwards on how to move forward.
